She was born March 16, 1925, the daughter of Elmer Frederick Reller and Annetta Mae Henderson Reller. She was born at 811 Beard Street, Beardstown, Illinois, in the same home she resided in at the time of her death. The home had been built circa 1922 by her father as a wedding gift for her mother.
She married Raymond Glenn Beard December 9, 1945, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, with the Rev. Kenneth T. Knudsen officiating. Mrs. Betty Williams of Rushville, Illinois was her attendant, and Ivan L. Alloway, cousin of the bride, served Mr. Beard as best man. Her husband preceded her in death March 19, 1988.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Mary Jo) Scheer and Tonie Culves, both of Beardstown; five grandchildren, Teena Scheer Carey, Valerie Scheer Booth, Nick Culves, Ron Culves, and Gail Scheer; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Reller of Hendersonville, TN, and Richard "Dick" Reller of Beardstown. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Jack Reller.
Mrs. Beard graduated from Beardstown High School with the Class of 1943. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beardstown and the Gold Club and a past member of the Emblem Club. She worked for many years with her husband at Beard Printing Company. Later she worked at the delicatessen shop at Kent's IGA.
Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cline Funeral Home in Beardstown. An informal visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the home of Richard and Mary Jo Scheer. Memorials are suggested to the Cass County Visiting Nurses or the donor's choice.
A memorial has been placed in the Pauk-Reller section at Oak Grove Cemetery in Beardstown with inurnment in the Chapel Mausoleum at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois.
