William A. Ropp died at his home, one mile north and five and one-half miles west of Perkins, Monday, December 11, 1922, aged 66 years, 6 months and 1 day. Funeral services were held at the home by John Jones. Interment was made in Oak Grove (Johnson) cemetery.
William A. Ropp was born June 10, 1856, near Tipton, in Cedar county, Iowa. He was married December 25, 1879, to Ellen E. Parks, and to them twelve children, six boys and six girls, were born. He leaves his wife, two brothers and one sister, and children as follows: Mrs. Julia Johnson, Okarche; Mrs. Maud Nichols, McGregor, Colo.; Mary Torrance, Independence, Kan.; Walter Ropp, Dewey, and Frank Ropp, who is home with his mother. All the children were at the bedside of their father except Mrs. Maud Nichols.
Mr. Ropp came to Oklahoma at the time of the opening in April 1889, and homesteaded the farm on which he has lived most of the time since. His death was caused by pneumonia.
