Dorothy Faye Long Johnson, 85, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Friday morning, September 5, 2008 at Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah. She resided at 655 East 300 North in Spanish Fork, Utah at the time of her death.


Dorothy was born March 27, 1923 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Alex and Viola Mary Mork Long. She graduated from Springville High School. Dorothy married Leonard Dean Johnson on July 18, 1942 in Springville, Utah. They are the parents of four children. She loved her family and selflessly served them all her life. She worked as a secretary for PDM Steel until her retirement. She loved the American Legion Auxiliary and served in all capacities including Department President for Utah and President of District 4. She also served as President of the American Business Women Association, and belonged to the Loftian Club, Strawberry Cabin Association, and the Spanish Fork Senior Citizens. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was always willing to help and serve her neighbors and friends. Dorothy loved crocheting, fishing, camping, traveling, sewing, and was an avid reader.


Dorothy is survived by a son and two daughters, Mark L. (Kathy) Johnson, Salem; Diane (Allan) Bringhurst, serving an LDS mission in San Pablo, Philippines; Kathleen (Mike) Lawrence, South Jordan; a sister, Charmian L. (Robert, deceased) Taylor, Springville; and is adored by 17 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her cat, Dusty. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Dean Johnson; her parents; and a son, Wesley Dean Johnson and his wife, Freya.


Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 7th Ward Chapel, 400 North 800 East, Spanish Fork. Family and Friends may call on Monday evening, September 8, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork and on Tuesday morning prior to services at the Church from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
