Jim Kaspar Sr. passed away at his home early August 2, 2008 in Reno, NV after a two year battle with cancer. He was born May 15, 1935 in Glendive, MT to Ludwig and Konradina Kaspar. When Jim was two, the family moved to Germany where they lived until he was 15. In 1952 Jim, his siblings, and his mother moved back to the United States where they helped work on an uncle's farm in Montana. Jim served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He moved to Reno in 1958 and met his wife of 43 years in 1961 while they both worked at the Nevada Club. Jim worked in gaming most of his life; he worked at Harrah's, the Holiday Hotel, Baldini's, and the Sands until he retired 2001. He enjoyed fishing, traveling to the Oregon Coast, cooking, and golfing. Jim proudly shot a hole in one in April! Mostly, Jim was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Those who knew Jim loved and respected him.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Ludwig and Konradina, and his brothers Walter, "Pinky", and Pete. Jim is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Jim Jr. (Kerry), Jason (Andrea); daughters, Jessica Martin (Greg), Jeannie Scheffer; brothers, Ludwig, Robert (Eunice); sister, Elfriede; grand- children, Jamie, Jackie, Taylor, Austin, Joel, Alexis, and many great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and their children. Special to Jim were his nieces Marleen Shanks (Bill) and Sandra Germann (Mike). Our family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to our many family and friends, Dr. McKintosh, Faith, Dr. Kennedy, Kristi, St. Mary's Hospital staff and Hospice, who have offered tremendous support and kindness.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mountain View Masonic Gardens Chapel August 11, 2008 at 11 a.m.with a reception to follow.
