Death Occurs After Long Period of Failing Health

Mines E. Allen died at his home here Thursday, April 12, following an extended period of failing health. He was 74 years of age.
Mr. Allen was the oldest son of James and Leava Allen. He was born in Madison county May 15, 1876, an spent his entire life here. For many years his home was in the Elm Grove neighborhood.
He was married June 16, 1898, to June Smith. Her death occurred in 1947.
He is survived by his daugher, Marie; and a brother, Claude M. Allen of Dallas.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the St. Charles Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. A. R. Weed of Tingley. Burial was made in the Elm Grove cemetery.
