In Remembrance
On August 16, death entered the home of Mr. John Clemons of Green Sea S. C., and took away his wife. Before her marriage she was Miss Gore of Hulls Island. To this union were born nine children, six boys and three girls, all of Tabor City, N.C., with the exception of Mrs. Ira Hammond of Fair Bluff, N.C., and Mr. Tom Clemons of Raleigh, N.C At the time of her death Mrs. Clemons was nearing her 67th birthday. Besides her husband and children, she leaves 23 grandchildren and a host of friends.
She was a member of the Green Sea Baptist Church and though an invalid for several years, continued to attend church when possible and was interested in the religious activities of the day. Truly she was a faithful Christian and a devoted wife and mother.
Meares Undertakers had the body in charge.
The funeral was conducted at Green Sea Church with Rev. Hinton and Gober speaking words of hope and comfort.
Mrs. A. R. Hewett of Orlando, FLA. sister of the deceased, was with the family the last weeks and was a wonderful help and comfort.
Mrs. J. L. Whaley, of Mullins was Mrs. Clemons' nurse, during her last illness.
Her bed is empty, her rolling chair is still,
For she now in heaven lives.
