Our beloved Virginia Ruth Brown Milne passed away on September 1, 2008 in Salt Lake City at the age of 99.

Virginia was born February 23, 1909 in South Jordan, Utah to Silas and Emma Evans Brown. Four weeks later her family moved to Midvale, where she spent happy years growing up. Many fun hours were spent roller skating and helping with the player piano in the silent movie theater run by her parents. Virginia enjoyed theater and was the leading lady in the senior play at Jordan High School, where she also was vice president of her senior class and assistant editor of the school paper. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 16 years of age and was a devoted member. Virginia served in many capacities and was especially fond of family history and temple work and loved serving in the Primary organization. She married Donald Brady Milne on June 20, 1932 in Midvale. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 3, 1933, and served as missionaries in the California Arcadia Mission from 1976-77. Virginia was a faithful and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She was a hard worker and extraordinary homemaker and as recently as last month was signing birthday cards for her many family members. Her thoughtful ways, quiet steadiness, insightful political views and delightful sense of humor will be keenly missed.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Don, a stillborn son Silas, oldest daughter Janet Milne Leek, her parents and four siblings. She is survived by son-in-law Thomas A. Leek, son Donald (Esther) Milne, daughter Patricia (Paul) Condie, son Richard Milne, 20 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Virginia and Don also parented Ernest "Ernie" Begay for nine years as part of the LDS Church Indian Placement Program.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 1 p.m. in the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary Chapel at 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), with a viewing one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the South Jordan City Cemetery.
