William D. "Dee" Milton, 88, of Canton, formerly of Hannibal, passed away at his home Saturday, August 30, 2008. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev Tom Day officiated. Burial, with full military honors were provided by the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 and the Hannibal Memorial VFW Post No. 1124, will be at Riverside Cemetery in Hannibal.

Uncle Dee was born March 15, 1920, in Oakwood, the son of James Wicks and Florence Mae Pickett Milton. He married Juanita Taylor on January 6, 1951 in Hannibal, she preceded him in death September 10, 2005.

He is survived by his nieces, Rita Simpson, Vonnie Malatin, Teresa Martin, and his great nephews and nieces, and a brother in law, Bobby Taylor of Hannibal.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Powell, a brother, John Williams, niece Brenda Powell Schaller, great nephew Alan Day, and great-great nephews Adam Martin and Jeremy Day.

He was a veteran, serving in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was a police officer for the Hannibal Police Department, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Oakwood Christian Church and the Emmette J. Shields American Legion No. 55.
