FEBRUARY 10, 1960

Dr. George H. Adler, Klamath Falls physician and surgeon from 1928 to 1957, died February 9, in the Univesity of Oregon Medical School Hospital, Portland, from complications following recent surgery. He was 61 years old, born October 3,1898 in Cambridge, Massachussetts.

During his residence here he served Klamath County coroner in addition to his other professional duties from 1932 until 1957 when he moved with his family to Medford to become medical officer at the Camp White Domiciliary.

Following service there, he was transferred to the Veterans Hospital in Vancouver, Washington, to continue his practice as medical officer.

He spent his early life in a remote gold mining camp, 100 miles by mule train from Weaverville, California.

The doctor, unable to attend elementary or high schools enrolled at the University of Oregon as a biology student and made up his high school work while carrying college courses.

Dr. Adler served in World War I, at Army Presidio Headquarters in San Francisco, prevented from going overseas by a meningitis epidemic. He received his degree in medicine from the University of Oregon.

He was a member of Klamath Falls Lodge, No. 77, AF & AM, York Rite Bodies, Kamath Falls, Hillah Temple, AANM Shrine, Ashland, Klamath Falls Lodge, No. 1247 BPOE; Klamath Falls Aerie No. 2090 FOE, and Klamath Post, No. 8 American Legion.

Survivors include the widow Madelon of Vancouver, Washington, two daughters, Mrs.Madelon Petroff of Portland and Sheila Adler of Vancouver, a brother Arthur Adler of Mount Shasta; also three grandchildren. An only son, George J. Adler, died several years ago here following an attack of polio.

Funeral services will be announced by Ward's Klamath Funeral Home.

The family of Dr. George H. Adler, who died in Portland, February 9th, requests that those wishing to do so may contribute to the George Adler Memorial Fund.

Funeral services for Dr. Adler, former Klamath Falls Physician and Surgeon and Klamath County coroner for many years, will be held Saturday, February 13, from St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 2. p.m. Final rites and interment will be in Klamath Memorial Park under arrangement by Ward's Klamath Funeral Home with Klamath Lodge No. 77, A.F.& A.M. in charge. Casket bearers will be: active, Lt. Earl Tichenor, Dayton Van Vactor, Harry Van, Dr. T.F. Farley, Dr. Raymond Engelcke and Dr. Gordon Erlandson, honorary, Hugh B. Campbell, Dr. Ralph Stearns, Dr J. Martin Adams, Dr. George A. Massey, Dr. Samuel Earhart, and Willard Ward. Here for the services are Mrs. George H. (Madelon) Adler of Vancouver; daughters, Mrs. Eugene A (Madelon) Petroff, and Dr. Petroff of Portland, Sheila Adler of Vancouver; two sisters, Mrs. Beth McArthur and Mrs. Blanche Roberts, both of Vancouver; also a brother, Arthur Adler of Shasta City. His aged father, Rudolph Adler of Vancouver will be unable to be present.
