Mr. Steiner was involved in research on the effects of turbulence on aircraft. A graduate of Washington State University, he was in the Army Corps of Engineers. He served as a deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church, Hampton, and was a volunteer for Contact Peninsula Crisis Hotline.
Survived by his wife, Margaret Steiner; two sons, Gerard Steiner of Littleton, Colo., and Duane Steiner of Ridgecrest, Calif.; two brothers, Rex Steiner of Johnson, Wash., and Forrest Steiner of Phoenix; three sisters, Florence Hatley of
