1923 - 2008 Resident of San Lorenzo Entered peacefully into rest in Hayward on August 30, 2008. She was 85 years old. Born in Chicago, Illinois on March 9, 1923, Marie was a longtime resident of San Lorenzo who took great pride in her family and all of their accomplishments. Marie was a devoted homemaker to her five children. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church and was also a member of St. Gerard's Womens Club. Active in her community, she had belonged to the East Bay Porcelain Artists, the San Leandro Art Association, the Colored Pencil Society of America and the Mr. and Mrs. Dance Club. Marie was treasured by all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Marie is survived by her loving children, William Light of Castro Valley, Theresa Ajuria of Belmont, Patricia Stanton of Dublin, James Light of San Mateo and Sandra Mahler of Danville. She leaves behind her sister in law, Bernice Bertelsen, 11 grand-children,1 greatgranddaughter and many cherished extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward J. Light on July 15, 2004. Visitation for Marie will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd.,San Lorenzo. A vigil service will be held on Wednesday at 7 pm at the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at. St. John's Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd.,San Lorenzo. She will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
