Rev. Barr was born near Quarryville, Lancaster County, PA in 1832. In 1855 he taught school in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County. He joined the Conference in 1856 and was appointed to the Halifax Circuit. He served churches in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. He was not able to rally after he acquired a cold in February of 1867 and died, three months later, in Enterprise, Lancaster County, PA.
