Andrew Jackson Ault was born in Coshocton, Ohio, in 1836. He was the son of Leonard Ault (b. 1800), who was son of Valentine ("Felty") Ault.

Andrew Jackson Ault, like his father, had a very large family. He brought his family westward, first to Indiana, then to Nebraska, and finally to this hill above Turkey Creek, near Morrison Township, Colorado. The community built a school which served as a community center and post office, called the Medlen School, very near this cemetery. The cemetery was sometimes called the "Medlin" or Medlen Cemetery until it was officially established by Frederick Ault, Andrew's son, in 1903. Frederick held 168 acres here on a land patent granted in 1893 and most of his extended family lived here. Andrew was about 50 when the family arrived in Colorado. He is listed as a farmer in the census. Most men here where farmers, ranchers, hired hands, miners, millers ... sometimes all at once.

Andrew Jackson Ault lived until age 90 and is buried here with his wife and three of his twelve children.

We would welcome any photographs of Andrew Jackson Ault and his extended family.
