Janet Louise Smith, the daughter of Arthur Gene Smith and Joyce Hilborn Verrill, was born on August 15, 1953 in Long Beach, California. She spent her formative years in Holland, New York and in several places around the world where her father, who worked for Shell Oil Company, had been transferred. Her family moved to Nassau Bay, Texas in the early sixties. She attended Clear Creek High School and later graduated from Sam Houston State University. Janet was a BNF (Big Name Fan) in Science Fiction Fandom. She worked at Houston Con, the big nostalgia convention in Houston. She was a prize winning costumer at those conventions, a prize winning photographer and a published author.

Janet became a member of the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) adopting the Society Name of Jane't (pronounced Zhah-nay) Virago Parva. Virago Parva means "wee woman warrior." She attended SCA meetings to further explore the life and history of the Middle Ages and joined in the fighter practices, eventually becoming an accomplished sword fighter. She met her future husband James Douglas Bozarth, the son of Claude Earl Bozarth, Jr. and Joyce VirJean Potter, at one of those meetings.

James and Janet were married in a civil ceremony on September 23, 1976 in Houston, Texas. They were then married as Telburn Morningstar and Jane't Virago Parva in a medieval ceremony on September 25, 1976 at the Bozarth family beach house in Crystal Beach, Texas. Shortly after their marriage Janet began making medieval clothing for herself and others which eventually resulted in a business they named House Morningstar. Janet and James have been deeply involved with the SCA and with the Texas Renaissance Festival in Magnolia, Texas over the last thirty-five years. They made all the clothing stock for their shops in Houston and Magnolia and for their sales trips to other renaissance festival sites across the country. Dressing in period clothes they would give talks on medieval armor, warfare, clothing, customs and music. They especially enjoyed talking to grade school classes and Cub Scout groups about the Renaissance.

Janet Louise Smith Bozarth died at the age of 54 years, 9 months and 7 days on the morning of May 22, 2008 at her home in Houston. She is survived by her husband; her parents; a brother, Richard Smith; two sisters, Barbara Smith Moses (Divorced) and Christine Smith Byerly (Husband James), and two nephews, Stuart Smith, son of Richard Smith, and Daniel Moses, son of Barbara Smith Moses.

A Society wake was held for Jane't Virago Parva of House Morningstar at the Steppes Warlord event in Canton, Texas the weekend following her death. The autocrats dedicated the event to Jane't, who had been the 4th Queen of Love and Beauty in its thirty odd years. The list fields were draped in her colors. About thirty people came and spoke about her life and what she meant to the SCA and themselves personally. Count Sir William the Bear, a long time friend, was so moved that he took off his white belt of knighthood and handed it to James saying he was sorry he had not knighted her when he had the chance. Right after that the current King of Ansteorra came over and said she could not have the belt without the chain of knighthood. He took his personal chain off and gave it to James, who is known by his Society Name of Telburn Morningstar.
