She was the daughter of the late Professor Harry M. and Elizabeth (Harnish) Cooper.
Mrs. Spence worked for the former Orinoka Silk Mill, York. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, York, and was a Den Mother for Pack 37 at the Jewish Community Center.
She was the wife of the late George L. Spence, Sr. and surviving are two sons, George L. Spence, Jr. of York, and Joseph E. Spence and wife, Janet of York; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Jack R. Spence.
