Wasilla resident Billy George Foster Sr., 68, died of cancer Sept. 19,1997, at his home. Visitation was at Valley Funeral Home, 151 E. Herning Ave., in Wasilla. A funeral was held at the Farm Loop Christian Center, Mile .8 Farm Loop Road in Palmer, with the Rev. Timothy Thom officiating. A graveside service followed at Angelus Memorial Park in Anchorage.

Mr. Foster was born Jan. 10, 1929, in Clarksville, Texas, to Homer A. and Mary Woods Foster.He graduated from Clarksville Senior High School.He came to Alaska in 1968 and resided in Anchorage until 1978, when he moved to Wasilla. He was employed by Mobil Oil Corp. from 1950 to 1985, most recently at the Drift River Terminal near Kenai. He was a member of the Farm Loop Christian Center in Palmer, and various churches in Anchorage and Wasilla since 1968, and the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship. He was an active member of Lakeview Terrace Homeowners Association from 1990 to 1997. He enjoyed fishing and camping. His family said, ''He truly loved God, his family and his multitude of friends. That knowledge has served as a beacon of hope and a source of strength for all of those who knew him.''

He is survived by his wife, Ramona; and daughter, Mary Nell Foster Pierce of Wasilla; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Jr. and Connie of San Antonio, and Gary and Nancy of Anchorage; grandchildren, Laura and William ''Joe'' Pierce of Blackfoot, Idaho, Laura Button and Jeremy Pierce of Anchorage, Marisa ''Misty'' Pierce of DeKalb, Ill., Christopher and Chantelle Pierce of Wasilla, and Eric and Brandon Foster of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Russell, Valarie and Todd Saxton of Blackfoot, Idaho, Francheska Fernandez and Paul Rodriguez of Anchorage; sisters, Ruth Allgood of Clarksville, Texas, and Ruby Nell Carlton of Kimm, Texas; brother, James of Daingerfield, Texas; and sisters-in-law, Gladys of Texarkana, Ark., and Frances of Clarksville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1057 West Fireweed Lane, Suite 204, Anchorage, 99503. Arrangements are by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory of Wasilla.
