History - Robert helped bring many Saints across the plains to Utah after his arrival there. He was 24 when he first crossed the plains but waited until he arrived to find the girl of his choice. His father was the thirteenth male baptized into the Church in Scotland, so it followed that his children would be baptized as soon as they were old enough. He filled a foreign mission as well as several home missions.

Robert was City Marshall of Wellsville, and water master for the East Field Irrigation Company. He also pioneered in Cardston, Alberta, Canada in 1893.
