FULTON - Victor H. Cughan, 82, of Fulton, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004 at Lee Memorial Hospital. Born in Brewerton, he resided in Fulton most of his life. He retired in 1983 from Sealright Co., Fulton after 35 years. Victor served in the U. S. Navy from 1939 to 1949. He served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939. He attended State Street United Methodist Church. He was a life member and past commander of Veterans of Foreign Post #569, Fulton. He was also a member of American Battleship Association and Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier Association. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Cughan, Fulton; children, Timothy (Ann) Cughan, Deltona, Fla. and Victoria (John) Merkley, Fulton; grandchildren, Eileen and Eric Merkley; brothers, William (Alice) Cughan, Charles Cughan and Richard (Joyce) Cughan; a sister, Martha Sprague; a sister-in-law, Francis Cughan; and nieces and nephews. Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home. Spring burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours are 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to V.F.W. Post #569, 216 Cayuga St., Fulton, NY 13069.
