Clara Elizabeth Cole Walton, 86, passed peacefully away at 10 p.m. Monday December 9, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Olive Anderson. Death was incident to old age and came without much suffering. She was the third wife of Patriarch
Thomas Walton and mother of one daughter, Olive, and two sons, Ray and Heber, Thirteen grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held in the Smoot ward chapel today at 1 p.m. Counselor Alma Walton conducted the service. The opening song was by the Singing Mothers and the opening prayer was offered by Joseph Allen. The first speaker was Pres. Royal S. Papworth followed by a vocal duet by Lillie Jensen and Helen Findlay, "Sunset".
The second speaker was Elmer Lancaster and after that, a vocal solo "Teach Me To Pray" was rendered by Jim Gomm. The third speaker was Bp Hugh W. Findlay. All spoke of the unbounded faith and unselfishness of this devoted woman. The closing song was by the Singing Mothers. Benediction was offered by Counselor Dewey Henderson. Interment was in the Smoot cemetery. Alvin Walton dedicated the grave.
Among the relatives from out of the valley were Mr and Mrs. Heber J. Walton and daughters Ruth and Betty of Salt Lake City, Mr and Mrs Prentiss Fitsgerald and family of Draper, Utah, Alvin Walton and sons Roy and Arthur and Mrs Roy Walton of Montpelier, Idaho, Mr and Mrs Ardell Watts and neighbor from Idaho Falls.
The family wish to thank everyone who assisted in any way in the burial of Grandma.
