S. Genevieve Smith Friedline, 93, of Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon, and formerly of Hershey, Dillsburg, Westminster, MD, and Hill Farms, Annville, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005 in the home.
Born in Elizabethville on October 8, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Charles Smith.
She was a former employee of the Hershey Laundry. Genevieve was a member of St. Mary's United Church of Christ, Westminster, MD. She was a former member of the Westminster Senior Center, MD.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl F. Scheidler on January 3, 1943.
Genevieve is survived by one son, Martell F. Scheidler and his wife, Geraldine Brandt Scheidler of Palmyra; 3 granddaughters, Diane E., wife of Rodney Carroll and Pamela K. Hermany, both of Colebrook, and Vicki L., wife of Delmar Cantrell of Palmyra; 6 great-grandchildren, Marti L. Carroll, Mariah P. Carroll, and Tanya C. Hermany, all of Colebrook, and Delmar E. Cantrell III, Joseph C. Cantrell, and Devin E. Cantrell, all of Palmyra.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Autumn Lynn Carroll, on February 21, 1993.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Trefz and Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with the Rev. Dr. Alan C. Wenrich, pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown, officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Rife. Friends are invited to call Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's United Church of Christ, 1441 East Mayberry Road, Westminster, MD 21158, or to Cedar Haven Nursing Home, 590 South 5th Avenue, Lebanon, PA 17042.
