Richard Lee Young, 57, of Galax, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at his home. Mr. Young was born July 27, 1939 in Roanoke to the late Roy Lee Young and Gertrude Young. He was also preceded in death by his wife, June Kirby Young. In addition to his mother he is survived by two stepsons and daughters-in -law, Mike and Sandy Wilson, Randy and Kathy Wilson, all of Galax; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Melvin Collins, Lois and Bobby Hall, all of Roanoke, Nancy and Dennis Sink of Callaway, Janice and Garland Nichols of Bristol, Va., Peggy and Charles Aldridge of Salem; one brother, Roy Glenn Young of Callaway; five stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Marion and the Rev. C. E. Musser officiating. Interment will follow in Meadow Creek Cemetery.
