Alforetta “Alsie” Shiflet Herring

Mrs. Alise Shifflett Herring, 93, widow of Alfred A. Herring, died yesterday at her home at Stanardsville. A native of Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Givens and Parphena Shifflett.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Lillie Marshall of Stanardsville, Mrs. Elnore Clemmer and Mrs. Ida Liskey of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Gracie Thomas and Mrs. Mamie Marshall of Charlottesville; two sons, Joseph Herring of Proffit, and Wilmer Herring of Dyke; four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Shifflett and Mrs. P.E. Blackwell of Doylesville, Mrs. John Marshall of Richmond, and Mrs. Maude Morris of Spring Creek, Md.; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow from Chestnut Grove Baptist Church at Earlysville, with burial in the church cemetery.
