"Kansas Lastinger and husband, Francis Marion Smith, were the parents of six children, all born in Nashville, Berrien Co., Ga., F. M. Smith served as Ordinary of the Court, the office of Judge of the Probate Court, in Berrien County, and was also engaged in naval stores operations. In his old age he was pastor of the Brushy Creek Church, Irwin Co., Ga. About 1896, they had moved to Valdosta, Lowndes Co., Ga., and according to the above story, they also lived in Florida for a few years. Francis Marion Snith was born 14 Aug. 1858 and died of high blood pressure in August 1922, at his son Noah's home, Rochelle, Ga., Kansas was b. 19 Sep 1955*, Lowndes Co., Ga., and d. 28 Jan. 1907 of pneumonia at Fitzgerald, Ga. Both were buried at Brushy Creek Church Cemtery. Their marriage occurred 18 Dec. 1882."
