Joe Oliver Green – February 2, 1916 – September 4, 1999

Joe Oliver Green was born February 2, 1916, in Paducah Texas to Alvin "Baldy" Green and Cordia (Moore) Green.
Joe grew up in Paducah Texas and attended Paducah High. In his youth, he played sports such as Basketball, Football, Tennis and Track.
He married Sybil Sebastian, on September 4th, 1937, in Spur, Texas.
Joe enlisted in the Navy in May of 1942, and served in WWII, where he was awarded the AIR MEDAL for "meritorious acts while participating in aerial flight in connection with military operations against the enemy in the Western Pacific combat area from June 21 to July 3, 1945." He left the Navy with an honorable discharge September 25, 1945.
Joe and Sybil adopted two children in 1960, Larry and Marie. They then left Texas and moved to Livermore, California where they settled and continued their teaching careers. Joe taught at Marilyn Avenue and Sonoma Avenue elementary schools.
Joe lost his beloved wife to Huntington's disease in January of 1972. He then later married Margaret Kahl, who was also an elementary school teacher.
Surviving Joe are his wife Margaret Kahl, Son Larry Green, Stepdaughters Kerry and Deborah, Granddaughters Nichole Green and Stacy Green, Sisters Mary (Green) McKnight and Opal (Green) Merrill.
Joe is predeceased by his parents Alvin and Cordia Green, his first wife Sybil (Sebastian) Green, his brother Nicholas Green, and his daughter Marie Green.

**Joe's ashes were buried at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno California with Margaret.
** In 2020, his military headstone was placed in his memory of him and his service to his country, at the Garden of Memories in Paducah Texas, near his wife Sybil, his parents, and other members of his family.
