Karen J. Moldenhauer, 45, of 13090 37th Ave., Chippewa Falls, village of Lake Hallie, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family, while under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer.
She was born April 28, 1963, in Eau Claire to Bernice (Cook) and Orlin Larson. She grew up in Eau Claire and graduated from North High School in 1981. Karen married Joel Moldenhauer on July 16, 1983, in Eau Claire. They have resided in Lake Hallie since that time. For the past 10 years, Karen has enjoyed working with students with special needs as a teachers aide at Chippewa Falls Middle School. The fellowship she enjoyed with her co-workers and other special friends was an important source of support, especially this past year.
Survivors include her husband, Joel; two sons, Ryan (finacee Julie Schuebel) and Riley, all of Chippewa Falls; parents, Bernice and Orlin Larson of Eau Claire; brother, Terry (Teri) Larson of Eau Claire; mother- and father-in-law, Donna and Eugene Moldenhauer of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Joan (Paul) Fischer of Hudson and Jane (Rich) Jaenke of Eau Claire; brothers-in-law, James (Karen) Moldenhauer of Eau Claire, John (Lori) Moldenhauer of Fall Creek, Jeff (Donette) Moldenhauer of Eau Claire and Jerry (Amy) Moldenhauer of Eleva; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Morgan Marie, on June 17, 1986.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Faith Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls, with the Revs. William Plautz and Craig Mathews officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie View Cemetery, Lake Hallie.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls, and one hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
Memorials in Karen's name may be designated to Chippewa Falls Middle School Special Education c/o Shauna Eckwright, 750 Tropicana Blvd., Chippewa Falls, WI 54729.
