Benjamin Edward Glass, age 80, of Wilmington passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at the Manteno Veterans Home.

Born December 17, 1926 in Metropolis, IL to the late David and Helen (Reid) Glass; also preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Lou (Albright) 2006 whom he married December 22, 1951 in Alcorn County, MS, and one grandson, Kenneth Wilson Glass; two brothers, Charles and Bill Glass.

Survived by his son Max (Deborah) Glass of Wilmington; two granddaughters, Christina (Barry) Leabo of Clearwater, KS and Marjorie (Dean) Sula of Morris; two great grandchildren, Lindsay and Lauren Leabo; one brother, Robert (Frieda) Glass of Missouri and one sister, Minnie (Late John) Wilfong of Chester, IL; niece, Cathy Butcher of Wilmington and many other nieces and nephews.

Veteran of WW II serving with the Army/Air Corp. Retired fron the State of Illinois Dept. of Corrections at Statesville Joliet Prison as a Lt, and the US Postal Service in Wilmington. Former owner/operator of the Glass Grocery Store & TV Repair from 1950-1960 and the Island Restaurant Wilmington 1967-1979 with his wife Mary Lou.
