C.C. Bearden Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, from complications of emergency surgery. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, as well as a loyal and honest friend.
Funeral: private. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Reception: 3 p.m. Wednesday, A celebration of his life will be hosted by the Bearden Family at Colonial Country Club.
C.C. Bearden Jr., the son of Curtis C. "Pop" Bearden Sr. and Frances Wellborn, was born on Aug. 6, 1922, at St. Paul Hospital in Dallas.
From July 1, 1944 to March 1, 1945, C.C. served as a cable splicer in the 59th Signal Corps Battalion of the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy in France and Belgium.
After returning from the service, C.C. began his lifelong career in the bowling industry. He married his sweetheart of only three weeks, Carrie Jo Seay, on Aug. 29, 1946. She was the love of his life for 62 years.
During his successful career in the bowling industry, C.C. was recognized for many achievements. He was inducted into the Fort Worth Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1975, the Texas State Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1987, the BPAA's highest award in 1994, the Victor Lerner Memorial Award and in 1994, he was the recipient of the Richard E. Leatherwood Memorial Award from the Metroplex Bowling Centers Association.
During their 62 years of marriage, C.C. and Jo Baby traveled the world for business and pleasure and often entertained friends from all over the world. C.C. was best known as "Hootchy Kootchy" by his many friends and was loved by everyone who met him (he never met a stranger). C.C. will be missed by everyone, but especially by his family who respected and loved him immeasurably.
Survivors: Wife, Carrie Jo Seay Bearden; daughters, Deborah Bearden Page and husband, Larry, Cassandra Bearden Poore and husband, Dick; son, Curtis Carrall "Chip" Bearden IV and wife, Megan; grandchildren, Richard Grandon Poore Jr. and wife, Carissa, Curtis Kevin Poore and wife, Melissa, Carrissa Poore Auten and husband, Clint, David Hogan Page, Aaron Cooper Page, Andrew Davis Page, Curtis Carrall "Chase" Bearden V and Justin Garrett Bearden; great-grandchildren, Callie and Caitlin Poore, Cannon and Annabel Claire Poore, Brianna, Skyleigh, Cami Jo and Scout Auten.
