John Ruckman Dies At Hospital Here.Body Will Be Sent to Helena, Tex., Where He Was Postmaster for Thirty Years.John Ruckman, 77 years old, a well-known citizen of Helena, Karnes County, Tex., died at a local hospital at 4:30 o'clock this morning. The body will be sent to his home at Helena this evening by the Sloan & Hagy Undertaking Company, where the funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Ruckman came to Texas from Pennsylvania prior to the Civil War and has lived since that time in Karnes County. He was a gallant Confederate soldier, a good citizen and an upright and universally respected man. He had a wide circle of friends and was well-known by all the old settlers in this section of the State. He had held the position of postmaster at Helena for the last thirty years and was one of the directors in the Karnes County National Bank. Always prominent in Masonic activities, Mr. Ruckman was a charter member of the Alameda Lodge of the Masons. His widow and the following children: J.W. Ruckman, cashier of the Karnes County National Bank; Mrs. Mary Barnett of Karnes City; Robert C. Ruckman, a ranchman of Tilden, Tex.; T.D.
