(Barton Grey) Author. Was born in Charleston, South Carolina, December 24, 1845. A graduate of the College of Charleston, and valedictorian of his class. December 20, 1883, married Anna E. Ravenel. Many years literary editor of the "Sunday News and Courier." Has delivered literary addresses, and now holds the position as master in equity of Charleston County.


Civil War veteran of the 1st Regiment, Charleston, Guard, South Carolina Company H. and the 4th Regiment of South Carolina Cavalry (Rutledge's) Company K.
