A Golden Wedding Celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Clement Geiger at Everest.
Most unusual and altogether enjoyable occasion was that of last Thursday when four generations of Geiger, the family of Mr. and Mrs. Clement Geiger, forty-five in number met at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Geiger to celebrate the 53rd wedding anniversary. The expression of each one participating in the festivities of the day is that "it was a day long to be remembered" and well use the expression since such a sight is seldom seen in one family; from the prattling little tot through all the stages of life, to the much revered and veteran great grandparents whose golden wedding they were celebrating. The childish merriment, the various games, the calling up of the family with Father and Mother Geiger as the center of attraction as in the other days when life was new and different, was more than the fulfilling of the fondest hope of all.
It was an uncommon thing, that of 53 years of married life; but in this family has a phenomenal record. They are well informed, splendid citizens, successful in business and have an unblemished character with years of standing, and the natural consequences follows that they stand at the head among the leading people of this country and lend dignity to prosperity.
The importance of the occasion was further manifested by the presenting of costly and useful presents to the parents by the different members of the family. The table decoration, consisting of cakes and cut flowers carried out a color scheme appropriate to the occasion, was also arranged by the children and were received with almost worshipful appreciation by the elder Geiger. But it should have been known that for generosity, benevolence and good will Mr. Geiger has no equal. After dinner he presented each the ten children with a $500 check while to all the rest he gave smaller cash presents. All of this, too, was so unexpectedly and beautifully done that its effect was wonderful to all present.
The Geiger family tree consists of ten children, 31 grandchildren, all of whom were present, except Miss Mary, so well and favorably know to this city and who is now living in Montana. Those who have married into the the Geiger family brought the number up to 60, and those present were: Dr. Jacob Geiger. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Geiger, Mrs. G. Yancey and Mrs. Lawhorn, all of St. Joseph, Missouri; F. H. Geiger and family, A. C. Geiger and family, G. C. Geiger and family, A O. Madison and family, G. D. Bollingher and family, A. B. Bengston and family, J. C. Geiger and family, C. A. Geiger and family, W. W. Geiger and B. F. Geiger.—Everest Enterprise.

Geiger—Clemens Geiger, a pioneer of Everest, and head to the Geiger family of St. Joseph, died at 3:45 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Aug. 15, at Ensworth hospital, to which he had been taken from his home Wednesday afternoon. he had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Geiger was born in Wurtemburg, Germany in 1835, but came to the United States at the age of 17 years, locating at Philadelphia. He remained there three years, then went to Homer, Ill., where he stayed 10 years. Mr. Geiger moved his family to Everest in 1868, and was actively engaged in farming five miles from that town until 15 years ago, when he retired then moved into Everest. The death of Mrs. Geiger preceded his by three years. They had experienced 52 years of married life, without a death in the family. Funeral arrangements have not been completed, but burial will be in Robinson. Surviving Mrs. Geiger are five sons; Dr. Charles G. Geiger, St. Joseph; Florenz H., Albert C., William L., and Clem O., Everest; five daughter: Mrs. Amelia Bolinger, Mrs. Carrie Madison and Mary C. Geiger, Everest, and Mrs. Christina Bengston and Mrs. Rosa Hooper, Robinson: and two brothers: Stephen A., and Dr. Jacob Geiger, St. Joseph.
