John Frost was born on 01 Mar 1681 in Kittery Pointe, York Co, ME, the son of Major Charles Frost of Tiverton, Devonshire, England; who was massacred on 04 Jul 1697 at Ambush Rock in Berwick, York Co, ME by the Indians, and Mary Bolles of Wells, York Co, ME.

John was with his father when the latter was killed by the Indians in 1697.

He became a merchant in New Castle, Rockingham Co, NH and had a large business there with the West Indies. He also owned the ferry running between Portsmouth and New Castle.

He was married to Miss Mary Bray Pepperrell by Joseph Hammond, Esq on 04 Sep 1702 at New Castle, Rockingham Co, NH, the daughter of Colonel William Pepperrell of Tavistock, Devonshire, England and Margery Bray of Plymouth, Devon, England. Who resided in Kittery Pointe, York Co, ME. She was also the sister of Sir William Pepperrell of Kittery Pointe, York Co, ME.

In 1709 he was appointed Commander of the British man-of-war "Edward." July 4, 1717, while in command of the pinck "Bonetta" he was captured by the pirate ship "Le Grand," on a voyage from Barbados to Boston.

In 1724, he was commissioned Justice of the Superior Court to succeed Thomas Packer and remained Justice until his death. He was a member of the Provincial Council of the Governor of New Hampshire.

John and Mary had seventeen children: Margery who died in infancy; William who married Elizabeth Prescott; John Frost, II who married Sarah Gerrish; Charles who married 1) Sarah Jackson and 2) Joanna Jackson; Mary the 1st who died young; Sarah who became the wife of 1) John Blunt and 2) John Hill; Mary the 2nd who died in infancy; Andrew Pepperrell who never married; Joseph who married Margaret Colton; Abigail who never married; George who married 1) Mary Richards and 2) Margaret Weeks; Samuel who died in infancy; Miriam who married 1) Eliot Frost and 2) Alexander Raitt; twins Benjamin and Jane, Benjamin died in infancy and Jane married Mr Andrew Watkins; Mary the 3rd who died at two years of age; and Dorothy who became the wife of Benjamin Clifford.

The Honorable John Frost died on 25 Feb 1732 in New Castle, Rockingham Co, NH.

After John's death Mary married Rev Benjamin Colman on 12 Aug 1745 in Boston, Suffolk Co, MA and after his death on 29 Aug 1747, she married the Rev Benjamin Prescott on 06 Oct 1748 in Boston, Suffolk Co, MA.
