William Perry Loftis, 78, of 308 Powell St., died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens County, Mr. Loftis was a son of the late Harris Ervin and Beulah Owens Loftis. He attended the University of Illinois and Purdue University, and graduated from Reidville Veterans College, where he received his B.A. Mr. Loftis retired as state manager for Woodmen of the World of New York and New England states. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, where he served as an assistant Sunday School Teacher and former Deacon. Mr. Loftis was a member of the American Legion Post #52, Woodmen of the World, Masonic Recovery Lodge #31 in Greenville, and Cyprus Shrine Temple in Albany, N.Y. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Florence Turner Loftis, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Ray and Cathy Loftis, of Coble Skill, N.Y., Artie Edward and Karen Loftis, of Schenectady, N.Y., and Robert Dennis and Gina Loftis, of Easley; two brothers, John and Jerry Loftis, both of Woodruff; two sisters, Grace Calbert and June Jones, both of Laurens; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Casey, Vanessa, Josh and Luke Loftis; and a great-grandson, Travis Loftis.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Dale McCoig and the Rev. Terry Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

The family is at the residence.
