Mass of the Christian Burial was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 17, 1990 at St. Joseph Catholic Church , Salida for the former Salida resident Edward Commerford. Fr. Joseph Halloran officated. Viewing was one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery, Salida.

Ed died in Pueblo Thursday evening, December 13. He and his wife Mary lived in Salida for many years while he serviced his wholesale bread route. They retired to
Canon City in 1984.

Surviving are his wife, Mary of Canon City, two sons; Michael of Lakewood and Tim of Las Vegas, Nevada, one daughter; Nora Smith of Canon City, two brothers Henry of Great Bend, Kansas and Tom of Colby, Kansas, three sisters; Helen Maxwell of Salina, Kansas, Mary Huffman of St. Louis, Missouri and Sue Gallion of Houston, Texas; Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Ed's memory may be made to St. Joseph Church through the Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.


Ed along with his wife Mary refinished antique furniture. What a wonderful talent they had. They took something that was in bad repair and had no personality to it, and made it into a beautiful, useful personable piece of furniture. Added by Dorothy.
