LAPEL — Karl R. "Bud" Ritter, 64, of Lapel, died Aug. 25, 2008, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

He was born Nov. 23, 1943, in Elwood, the son of Joel Henry Ritter and Velma (Boyer) Ritter.

He retired from Delco Remy in 1999 after 37 years of employment. He was a veteran of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662.

Survivors include six daughters, Stephanie (Don) Boothroyd of Tipton, Heather (William) Owen of Elwood, Tammy (Harry) Cox of Anderson, Karla (Mark) Gordon of Anderson, Rebecca (Stephen) Hill of Muskeegan, Mich., and Amanda Ritter of Wilmington, N.C.; mother, Velma Ritter of Elwood; four sisters, Darlene (Jim) DeVore of Orestes, Jackie (Paul) Lane of Elwood, Jane (Larry) Lawson of Lapel, and Regina (David) Cress of Elwood; a brother, Ron (Cindy) Ritter of Pendleton; grandchildren, Brandon and Tabitha Cox, Sammie and Mike Boothroyd, and Ariel, Macenzie and Jacob Bradley; a lifelong friend, Larry McGuire of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joel H. Ritter; and a sister, Peggy Ann Ritter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood with the Rev. Mary Hofer officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Elwood Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through the funeral home.
