A memorial service for Joseph E. McCusker will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing, with Rev. Dar Reeck officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Burnside Cemetery, Red Wing.

Mr. McCusker, 88, of Red wing, died Monday (Aug. 25, 2008) at Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing.

Joseph E. McCusker was born Dec. 7, 1919, in Trimbelle Township, Wis., where he attended rural school. He served two tours of duty in the Army during World War II. On May 21, 1951, he married Ruth Lubach at the Catholic Church in Mannheim, Germany. The couple returned to the United States, and Mr. McCusker began farming with his uncle. After several years they moved to Red Wing, where he worked for Central Soya Grain Elevator. He retired in 1981.

He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph and enjoyed traveling, dancing and nature.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Red Wing; a son, Peter of Medford, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Visitation will be an hour before the service Friday at Mahn Family Funeral Home in Red Wing.
