Mr. Beith leaves a wife and four little children. When he was taken to the family home last night, the neighbors and friends of the family were there and helped all they could to rekieve the wife abd the stricken family in their bereavement.
Many friends extend sympathy to Mrs. Beith and her children.

VANDALS MOVE INTO LEHUNT CEMETERY WITH TREES CUT AND GRAVE UNEARTHED

The sexron of LeHunt Cemetery reported Wednesday that vandals cut down seven trees and unearted a 1909 grave in the small cemetery northwest of Independence (Kansas).

"We've had such time down there," Max Sherwin, who takes care of LeHunt and three other rural cemeteries, said today. "I hadn't been here since late fall. sometime during the winter someone went in and cut down all those three."

He said he had not been to the cemetery since early November last years. when he went to the cemetery to begin preparing it for Memorial Day he found only the stumps of the tree and the opened grave.

"It's a felony to do that, if we can jst find out who did it," said Arthur Scenk, Montgomery County Sheiff. "Any grave robbing is a felony."

Schenk said about the only thing left in the grave probably would have been the man's teeth and any jewelry or metal he was buried with.

The opened grave's headstone, which had been knocked over, read the name of W. M. Beathe, who was born Jan. 4, 1870 and died Octr. 11, 1909.

The only record of Beathe's death that has been located in an old issue of the REPORTER appeared in the Oct. 15, 1909, issue. The Larimer colum of that issue acknowledged "the death of William Beath on Oct. 12, 1909, in the Independence hospital after a illness of several months."

"Concerning the trees," Schenk said, "that it looked as through someone was looking for firewood because smaller branches were piled in the cemetery but the main trunks has been removed." He said the tree tree cutting would be considered vandlism, which is a misdemeanor.

Schenk said his department would continued to investigate both incidents, even through it is not known if the two are connected. Anyone having information concerning either incident is asked to contract the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department at 331-1500.
