Northern Arapaho Tribal Elder, Harold Pius Moss, 72,died on August 24, 2008, at the Lander Regional Hospital.

He was born on August 23, 1936, in Fort Washakie, the son of Paul Moses Moss Sr. and Wyoma Bitner Moss. His Arapaho name is BOOOCEIBIIS which means Red Willow.

He attended school at St. Stephens Mission and also took classes at Billings Business College and Eastern Montana College majoring in Business Administration.

On March 16, 1962, he married Sylvia Iron in Hardin, Mont., and made his home on the Crow Agency Reservation and lived there for 16 years.

They then moved the family to the Wind River Reservation for the remainder of his life.

He was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

When his daughter, became of school age he settled down to work and support his family.

He worked as a laborer on farms and eventually worked in various office jobs.

He felt his greatest accomplishment was working as the Director for the Northern Arapaho Tribal Culture and Commission. He finally retired in 1997.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sylvia (Iron) Moss; daughter, Haroldine Moss; three grandchildren; three great-grandsons; adopted daughters and their spouses, Sharlyn Simpson, Cheryl Whiteclay, Christine Goodluck, Amanda Kennah; adopted son, Sharron Curly and his wife; brothers and their spouses, Alonzo Moss Sr., Nelson Moss; sisters, Gloria Wheeler and her husband, Anita Carrier, Rosella Thunder and her husband; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Alonzo and Victoria Moss, Black and Dora Bitner; parents, Paul Moses Moss Sr and Wyoma Bitner Moss; brothers, Richard Moss, Norman Moss, Charles Moss, Paul Moses Moss Jr, Raphael Alan Moss, and 3 infant brothers.

Interment will follow at the Friday Cemetery on the Wind River Reservation.
