Clent was born to John and Angeline Moore Meadows. He was the second oldest of five children, Samuel Kenton, Thomas Clenton, Lucille, Rushia and Thomas Jefferson. Clent attended schools in Martin County, Kentucky, married Vertus Marcum and had four children: Clint Jr., Larry Kenton, Ronald and Connie Lynn. Clent served un the US Navy during WWII. He graduated from Pikeville College, Pikeville, Kentucky. In 1955 Clent moved his family to Huntington, WV. Later he started a family business Harris Calorific Sales Company. After retirement Clent and his wife Vertus moved to Vero Beach, FL. Later moved to Sebastian and lived there until his death. Clent was cremated and his ashes are buried with Vertus.

Clent was cremated at his request. His ashes were buried in Sebastian Cemetery next to his wife.
