Daniel T Anderson 56 of Shafer died of a heart attack Monday, January 6, 1997.

He was born May 22, 1940 in Minneapolis and he and his twin brother David were adopted October 31, 1940 by Lawrence and Evelyn Anderson. The family lived for a time in Chisago County while he was growing up and he attended Taylors Falls High School through his freshman year. Following graduation from Hopkins High School in Hopkins, Minnesota, he enlisted in the Army after four years of service in Germany, he returned to Minnesota to study mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota but after three years his love of the outdoors drew him back to Chisago County. He first worked with his cousin Steve Anderson in Steve's trucking business. Then he began his lifelong career of maintenance and repair of construction equipment with Alexander Construction. At the time of his death he was with Rehbein Construction.

Dan was united in marriage to Loretta J. Greene on April 26, 1975. They settled on a farm in Shafer Twsp, where they raised two daughters, Melissa and Michelle. Daniel enjoyed farming, hunting, and trap shooting and taught his daughters to enjoy the outdoors and hunting as well. He was one of the founders and a charter member of the Wild River Snowmobile Club, of which he and his family were active members. In recent years, he was an active supporter of Chisago Lakes girls' sports, regularly attending games and offering encouragement to his daughter, Michelle and her teammates.
