Genevia returned to Dimmitt, Texas, where she cared for her mother and raised her youngest child, Chris. In December 2007, ill health forced her to move back to Carter with her son, Rick, and his wife, Pam. She enjoyed crocheting, fixing hair and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles, Jimmy Dewayne and Robert Cargill; and one son-in-law, Burke Inman. She is survived by her three children, Rick Phillips and his wife, Pam, of Carter, Okla., Judy Inman of Clarendon and Chris Phillips of Plainview; eight grandchildren, Laurie Simpson, Jennifer Cartwright, Melissa Simpson, Jerry Inman, Stacie Murillo, Laura Shelley, Jirrie Phillips and Krissy Phillips; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Cargill of Tulia, Texas; two sisters, Elizabeth Bench of Plainview and Gwen Sears of Clarendon; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 26, 2008, at Whinery-Savage Chapel with Daryle Perry officiating. Burial will be in Poarch Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
