Flora Shannon Payne, 87, of Amarillo, died Sunday, May 20, 2001, in Olton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Coulter Road Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Payne and the Rev. Doug Dubose officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Payne was born June 23, 1913, in Polk County, Ark. She moved to Turkey when she was 12 years old. She has been a resident of Amarillo since 1944.
She married Clarence Edward (Jack) Shannon in Hollis, Okla. He passed away in 1968. She married Carl Payne in 1974, and he passed away in 2000.
Mrs. Payne was a retired florist in Amarillo, having worked for Buthker's, Zelman's and Boston Greenhouse. She was a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church and their Tripple L Club.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita, an infant son, Jack Donald Shannon, and a great-grandson, Brian Jones.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Blackwell and husband, Gene, of Amarillo; her sister, Edith Cooper of Lockney; her grandchildren, Pam Roberson and husband, Scott, and their children, Derek and Joni, of Olton; Rick Blackwell and wife, Cindy, and their children, Chandler and Amelia, of Valencia, Calif.; and Jojuan Jones and her children, Brad and Holly, of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials be to Runningwater Draw Care Center, P.O. Box 409, Olton, TX 79064.
