Ron was student-body president in high school and an outstanding athlete. He was offered a number of basketball scholarships but chose to be married instead. He was a skilled and multitalented man and worked in several occupations including a number of years with the U.S. Forest Service. He ran his own well-drilling operation and finished his working career with the U.S. Atomic Energy facility in Arco, Idaho.
After retiring, he lived with his daughter and son-in-law in Iona, Idaho until his death in November, 1988.
