Services for I.A. Cox, 79, were held at the First Baptist church in Seymour.

Israel Alfred Cox was born in Parker County, Texas on 13 August 1875. When he was a small boy, the family moved to Llano County, and it was while living there he was married to Miss Martha Jane Allen. The couple lived for a while in McCulloch County before moving to Baylor County in 1912.

The Cox family lived in different parts of Baylor County before leaving here in 1944. Mr. Cox has been on ranches in this area of the state and he and his wife were keeping headquarters for the Paddle Ranch near Claremont at the time of Israel's death in Haskell. In November 1953, he suffered a light attack, caused by a blood clot; and a more severe attack on 18 January.

Survived by his second wife; Mrs. Sarah Emma Reeves; when he married her on 2 March 1944. His first wife died in 1932 and was the mother of all the Cox children. Two of these are deceased - Mrs. Arthur H. Lee and Mrs. George Parrish. The surviving children are: Alfred Cox, Francis Cox, Mrs. Clyde Davis, Mrs. E.P. McBryde, Monroe Cox, Mrs. W.J. Earles; six brothers - Jim, W.R., T.S., B.M., E.E., L.L. Cox; three sisters - Mrs. Nora Garrett, Mrs. Walter Martin, Mrs. George Bohannon.

Israel Cox was converted in early manhood and united with the Baptist Church. His membership was at Claremont.
