Mrs. Breidenbaugh, Carlisle Street, Is Victim of Heart Attack
TWO DAUGHTERS SURVIVE WOMAN
Mrs. Mary Ida Breidenbaugh, 84, died at the family home on Carlisle street at 11:15 o'clock, Thursday evening following an illness of two weeks. A heart condition was the immediate cause of death.
Mrs. Breindebaugh, widow of Dr. E.S. Breidenbaugh, for fifty years head of the chemistry department at Gettysburg college, was forced to go to bed about two weeks ago, suffering from a minor indisposition.
Last week, however, her condition seemed to take a turn for the worse, and a daughter, Mrs. David C. Burnite, of Sharpsburg, was summoned. She had another daughter, Mrs. Edna B. Zane, who made her home with her mother,were at the bedside when death occurred.
LIVED HERE 58 YEARS
Mrs. Breidenbaugh was a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. John Kitzmiller, of Schuykill county, but had resided in Gettysburg since being married to Doctor Breindenbaugh in 1873. Since 1875, when Doctor Breindenbaugh erected the family home on Carlisle street, Mrs. Breindenbaugh resided there. Doctor Breindenbaugh died September 5 1926. After he taught chemistry at college for fifty years. Doctor Breindenbaugh was made professor ementus holding that position for two years before his death.
Mrs. Breidenbaugh was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edna B. Zane, at home, and Mrs. David C. Burnite of Sharpsburg; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services from the Breidenbaugh home, Monday morning at 11 o'clock, the Rev. Dwight F. Putman, pastor of Christ Lutheran church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Dr, A.E. Wagner, of Hallam, a former pastor at Christ church. Internment private in Evergreen cemetery.
