Son of Isaac Sargent and Hannah Davenport Sargent. Husband of Vesta Lufkin Sargent. He took over ownership of the family farm which consisted of 143 acres and was considered one of best located and most productive in Madrid. He planted general farm produce which included wheat and herd's grass seed and raising of excellent cattle and sheep.

He and Vesta were married on Mar. 2, 1862 and raised 9 children in Madrid, Maine. Mr. Sargent was a Democrat and a Highway Surveyor for the town. The family attended Free Will Baptist Church.

Charles A., m. Grace M. Davis and resided in Fitchburg, MA.;
Samuel J., m. Gertrude E. Monroe;

Mary E., William I., Anna R. and Nettie E. all living at the parental home.
