Funeral services for Orvis Robert French, 68, of Rocky Ford will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ustick Funeral Home with Rev. Eizo Sakamoto officiating. He died Monday at La Junta Medical Center. He was born on July 26, 1905 near Freedom, Oklahoma to Luther Calvin and Bertha Elizabeth (Simmons) French. He was a retired school custodian. He married Florence Irene Carroll on April 16, 1934 in Garden City, Kansas. He is survived by his wife; his sons, Dale Lynn French of Fort Collins, Darell Lee French of Walnut Creek, California, and Leon Dwight French of Sheridan, Wyoming; his daughters, Loretta Avonne Rohr of Laurel, Maryland and Phyllis Jean Wagers of Tucumcari, New Mexico; his sisters, Carrie Lucille Knittel of Mooreland, Oklahoma, Daisy Minnie Daughhetee and Retha Belle Darr, both of Freedom, Oklahoma, Ethel Clarice Oglevie of Blue Springs, Missouri, Evelyn Vogt of Nanmino, British Columbia, Canada, and Wilma Elizabeth Probst of Ashland, Kansas; his brothers, Merle Henry "Pug" French and Wilden Ardell "Hank" French, both of Freedom, Oklahoma; and six grandchildren.
