Obituary for James "Dick" Brinkerhoff
James Richard "Dick" Brinkerhoff, 88 of Port Orchard, died on August 17, 2008 surrounded by his family. He was born March 3, 1920 in Gainesville, New York to John Albert & Mae (Dutton) Brinkerhoff. He graduated from Hastings High School in New York in 1936 and married Norine Wilhelm on February 14, 1942 in Port Orchard. She passed away October 1, 2002 after 61 years of marriage. Dick owned Brinkerhoff Appliance in Bremerton for 45 years, retiring in 1996. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1939 to 1945, coming to Port Orchard in 1942 as a member of the 260th Coast Artillery. Dick was a private pilot who enjoyed extensive travel and gardening. He was Past President of the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce, President of Kitsap County Fair Board, served on South Kitsap School Board, and member of Bremerton Elks, Knights of Pythias & Kiwanis. Surviving are son Richard (Judy) Brinkerhoff of Port Orchard; daughters Debra (Bruce) Chamberlain and Nancy (Ron) Pribbenow, both of Port Orchard, grandchildren Cody & Stacey Brinkerhoff, Keri, Susan & Anna Pribbenow, Janna Viergutz, Todd Chamberlain, Christina Kimble & Crystal Wood; great-grandchildren Ty, Kai, Alexander, Jansen & Breanna who all loved him so; and special friend Bonnie Wright. Graveside service at 2:00 pm Friday, August 22nd at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Memorial donations to Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road NW, Silverdale WA 9838private pilot who enjoyed extensive travel and gardening.
