Matt was born on August 19, 1974 to Elaine Forsyth and James Ivan Versluis in Salt Lake City, Utah. His father died one month before he was born. When Matt was 1 year old, he and his mother moved to Newcastle, Utah to live with his grandparents. He called his grandpa - dad. When he was 3 his mother met and married Robert Lee Cobb and he moved with them to St. George, Utah. When he was 4 he was legally adopted by his dad and was sealed to his parents in the St. George LDS Temple on April 3, 1984.

During his first year of life, his aunt Jeanne Forsyth Heemeyer tended him while his mother worked. Even though she had daughters 1 ½ and 6 months old of her own, she loved and cared for Matt deeply. He was a fun, loving and happy child. When he was 15 ½ he was diagnosed with a brain tumor called a meningioma which is rare for children to have. After he returned home from his mission in 1995 he met and married Karissa Marie Smith on November 16, 1996 in the St. George Temple. To this union were born two beautiful daughters - Kaitlyn Marie and Kennadee Ciara. Later, the marriage ended in divorce. On May 31, 2002 he married Natalie Nicole Semmens in Las Vegas, NV and on October 8, 2003 they became the parents of two wonderful little twin sons - Hunter Douglas and Logan Michael. While living in St. George he attended plumber apprentice school and in 2005 they moved to Pasco WA where he was employed as a pipe fitter installing sprinkler systems in commercial buildings.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Carl E.Cobb, grandparents, Dean and Luzon Forsyth, cousins Dounia and Mia. He is survived by his wife, Natalie and sons Hunter and Logan (4 ½) of Pasco, WA; daughters Kaitlyn (9) and Kennadee (7) of Ogden, UT; parents, Robert and Elaine Cobb of Enterprise, UT; grandmother Louise Cobb of Washington, UT; brothers, Steven (Sharilyn) of West Valley City, UT; Mikel (April) of Newcastle, UT; sister Jeni (Ray) Turley of Queen Creek, AZ; father-in-law, Jim Semmens, St. George, UT; mother-in-law, Launa (Tom) Denning, CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael Fleming, and Doug (Liz) Fleming, Las Vegas, NV; Tyler Lemke, CO; Tom Semmens, UT; Tiffany Orr and Krissi Denning, CO; Katie, Sara and Allie Semmens, UT; Becky (Sam) Seymore, UT; nephews and nieces - Mitchell, Hayden, McKenna and Gavin Turley; Dylan, Trevor, Carlee, Dallee and Paislee Cobb; Anthony Fleming, Jordan Semmens and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

August 19, 1974 – March 20, 2008

Matt (33) passed away on March 20, 2008 at his home in Richland, Washington as a result of complications from Epilepsy.

Matt was born on August 19, 1974. His father died one month before he was born. When Matt was 1 year old, he and his mother lived with his grandparents. He had a special bond with his grandparents and he was laid to rest next to them in Utah. This is something he always wanted. When he was 3 his mother Elaine married Robert , who adopted and raised him and loved him as his own.

He liked to ride bikes, draw, write poetry, hunt and fish. He loved music, computers and cars. He also loved watching football and the Buccaneers were his favorite team. He learned how to play the piano, clarinet and saxophone. He played the clarinet until his mother walked into his bedroom one day while he was practicing and found him lying on his bed reading a comic book while the cassette player was playing music. He had recorded himself practicing and would just turn on the machine when it was time to practice and be doing something else. He got this idea from watching Ferris Buehler's Day Off. She was so mad that she made him quit the clarinet and he had to take Chorus for the rest of the year. The next year she relented and he started playing the saxophone and loved it and did very well and actually played in the Jazz band.

In early January of 1990 Matt had a seizure. He had a CAT scan and the results showed a large tumor. He was sent to Las Vegas immediately for an MRI and the results were a tumor the size of an orange on the left side of his head. It was 3" x 3 ½" and took up a quarter of the brain space. As soon as could be scheduled he went to Primary Children's hospital where he had the tumor removed. Even though he had the tumor removed he always suffered from seizures.

In November of 1996 he married his first wife Karissa and they shared two beautiful daughters Kaitlyn (9) and Kennadee (7). That marriage ended in divorce and in May of 2002 he married Natalie. In October of 2003 they were blessed with twin boys Hunter and Logan (4).

Matt moved to Washington for a job in 2005 with Natalie and his boys. He loved living in the Tri-Cities and made many close friendships. Matt was a dedicated hard worker. At the time of his death he worked as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter. He worked very hard to provide for his family.

Matt was an amazing man and true friend. He could be counted on when you really needed him. He was a talented artist and a published poet. Most of all he was an amazing father.

The last three weeks of his life were dedicated to building his new computer. He spent countless hours researching prices and finding the best parts to build it. Sadly, Matt was unable to accomplish that dream, but because the parts arrived – in his honor, his friends and loved ones are going to put the machine together for him.

He loved his children very much. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for them.

He is survived by his Grandmother of UT, Parents of UT, his wife of WA, his 2 daughters of UT, his 2 sons of WA, 2 brothers and one sister, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and countless friends and loved ones who will all miss him dearly."
