VALLEY -- Mrs. Ellie L. Smith, 88, of Valley, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000 at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at Frederick's Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rusty Sowell and the Rev. Jeff Jerkins officiating. Burial will be in Fairfax Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her nine children, Imogene Murphy and Elvis L. (Shirley) Wilson, both of Valley, Vernell (Grady) Hamil of Augusta, Ga., Betty Ann Hopper of Huntsville, Josephine (Leon) Jerkins of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Walter Joseph (Sandra) Smith and Charlene (Robert) Riddle, both of Opelika, Helen (David) Hamil of Burton, S.C., and Geneva (Stan) Roberts of Ozark; 31 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Born Jan. 8, 1911 in Wedowee, Mrs. Smith was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Opelika.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Frederick's Funeral Home in Opelika.
