He was born Jan. 26, 1922, in Curran, the son of Joseph W. and Mabel Kendall Bilyeu Sr. He married Dorothy Herberger in 1947 and she died in 1985. Mr. Bilyeu was a member of the Riverton Athletic Club. Before his retirement in 1982, he was employed by Fiatallis for 37 years. Preceding him in death were his parents; and one brother, Gerald Bilyeu, in 1986. Surviving are two sons, Joseph W. Bilyeu III of Springfield and Landis C. Bilyeu of Buffalo; one daughter, Michelle Bilyeu of Springfield; one brother, Rodger Bilyeu of Curran; three sisters, Bernadine King of Springfield, Maxine Bilyeu of Curran and June Biggerstaff of Michigan City, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Vancil Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Cemetery.
